In a sweeping act of federal restructuring, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has begun issuing dismissal notices to thousands of employees this week — the opening salvo of what could ultimately become one of the largest bureaucratic overhauls in modern American history. By the time the dust settles, as many as 10,000 federal workers may be out of a job, with thousands more taking early retirement or voluntary separation deals. The Trump administration is once again leaving its mark — this time with a scalpel taken to one of the government’s most expansive public service arms.

This restructuring comes on the heels of an executive order stripping HHS and other agencies of collective bargaining rights — a strategic move that weakens union power and clears the path for mass layoffs without drawn-out negotiations. For some HHS employees, the end came with silent finality: their security badges simply stopped working when they arrived Tuesday morning.

At the heart of this transformation is Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose recently announced plan to remake HHS involves consolidating key agencies under a new umbrella — the Administration for a Healthy America. The idea? Streamline operations and implement President Trump’s MAHA agenda.

According to CBS News, the shakeup aims to shrink HHS from around 92,620 employees in late 2024 to just 62,000 — a staggering 33% reduction when counting both layoffs and voluntary departures. This marks an even leaner workforce than the one at the end of Trump’s first term, which stood at about 81,917.

This leads us to an incident that appeared to have taken place recently in the Capitol between a fired HHS employee and Republican Senator Jim Banks.

The creepy former federal employee (who should probably be looking for work instead of harassing Senators) tracked down banks in a hallway with staffers, claiming that he was “illegally” fired.

However, when you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

Banks told the alleged former employee he deserved to be fired because “you seem like a clown.”

The GOP Senator made the comments as the elevator door closed.

NEW: Republican Senator Jim Banks calls a fired HHS worker a "clown" after the man followed him around, demanding he get his job back.

You could not have timed the elevator door closing better than this.

Worker: "Are you gonna do anything to stop what's happening?"

Banks: "You… pic.twitter.com/TUcnGY5wb0
