The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has deleted a post after it offered condolences for the U.S. strikes on Iran.

“Our hearts go out to the victims and families impacted by the recent bombings in Iran,” the since-deleted post on X read. “While this tragic event happened overseas, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is closely monitoring the situation alongside our local, state and federal partners.”

Per Fox News, the post was amended, deleting the sentence on the U.S. strikes. The post was later deleted altogether.

The official, verified LA County Sheriff’s Dept posted, then edited, then deleted this eyebrow raising post appearing to express condolences for the “tragic” US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. Have to imagine someone went rogue here w/ an unapproved post. What a PR disaster. pic.twitter.com/QCe1cS1ct8

The department then issued an apology on Sunday evening for the “offensive and inappropriate” social media post.

“We are issuing this statement to formally apologize for an offensive and inappropriate social media post recently posted on our Department social media platforms regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran,” the post read. “This post was unacceptable, made in error, and does not reflect the views of Sheriff Robert G. Luna or the Department.”

Continue reading the post:

“We fully recognize that the words and messages we share carry weight. As law enforcement professionals, we are entrusted with a position of public responsibility, and that trust demands that we communicate accurately. In this instance, we fell short of that expectation, and we are taking quick corrective action. We are committed to learning from this failure and to prevent such incidents from occurring again.

We have updated our social media post and have launched an internal review to determine how it was created and published. Steps are being taken to strengthen our social media oversight protocols and ensure that any future communications align with our Department’s standards of professionalism, respect, and accountability.

We appreciate the continued trust of our community and will work diligently to reaffirm that trust every day.”

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said at a press conference on Sunday, following the strikes on Saturday, “Last night, on President Trump’s orders, U.S. Central Command conducted a precision strike in the middle of the night against three nuclear facilities in Iran Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan in order to destroy or severely degrade Iran’s nuclear program.”

“It was an incredible and overwhelming success,” he added. “The order we received from our commander in chief was focused. It was powerful, and it was clear we devastated the Iranian nuclear program. But it’s worth noting the operation did not target Iranian troops or the Iranian people for the entirety of his time in office.”

President Donald Trump floated Iran “regime change” in a post to Truth Social on Sunday.

“It’s not politically correct to use the term, “Regime Change,” but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!” Trump wrote.
