House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is seeking  “full transparency” in the Jeffrey Epstein case, which has come to the forefront in recent weeks.

Johnson spoke with CBS News about the case and the need to make information about it public.

Epstein was a convicted child sex offender who died by an apparent suicide in 2019 while in prison.

“We want full transparency. We want everybody who is involved in any way with the Epstein evils — let’s call it what it was — to be brought to justice as quickly as possible. We want the full weight of the law on their heads,” Johnson said Wednesday.

“It’s not a hoax. Of course not,” Johnson said when asked if he thinks it is a hoax. President Donald Trump has used that verbiage in describing people’s interest in the case. “I have the same concern and question that a lot of people do.”

The Justice Department and FBI released an analysis of the federal investigations into Epstein and announced the disgraced financier did not have an incriminating client list.

Some Trump supporters are not satisfied with the findings and want all of the case information to be released.

Instead of staying in session through Thursday, Johnson sent the House home for summer break.

He accused accused Democrats of playing “political games” by trying to force a vote to subpoena the Justice Department to release information.
