Florida state Sen. Joe Gruters has received President Donald Trump’s nod of approval to lead the Republican National Committee.Trump’s endorsement is in anticipation of current RNC Chair

Michael Whatley running for the U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina, per Life Site News.

Wheatley filed the paperwork to run Wednesday, according to the Washington Examiner.

The seat is currently held by held by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-S.C.), a liberal Republican, who is retiring.

Gruters is a moderate Republican who has championed pro-LGBT and pro-amnesty measures in Florida.

Trump posted his endorsement for Gruters — as well as his lamenting Whatley’s possible departure — on social media.

“I need him in Washington, and I need him representing YOU!” Trump said. “Fortunately, I have somebody who will do a wonderful job as the Chairman of the RNC. His name is, Joe Gruters, and he will have my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump wrote. “So, should Michael Whatley run for the Senate, please let this notification represent my Complete and Total Endorsement. HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

To the Great People of North Carolina, one of the most capable executives in our Country successfully ran, along with Lara Trump, the Republican National Committee. He happens to live in your incredible State, which I love, and won, including Primaries, six times in a row! My

Recently, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rebuffed Gruters as Florida’s chief financial pfficer because the lawmaker had opposed DeSantis on legislation to reduce the influence of teachers’ unions and backed a state constitutional amendment that was meant to decriminalized recreational marijuana, per the outlet.

Trump endorsed Gruters for that position, too.

Gruters also introduced legislation to end discrimination against LGBTQ people in Florida workplaces, according to Florida Politics.

The measure was called the Florida Inclusive Workforce Act.
