Hillary Clinton Says She Would Nominate Trump For Nobel if He Could End Russia-Ukraine War
Hillary Clinton made a surprise announcement Friday.
If President Donald Trump brings peace to Russia and Ukraine, she would nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize, Mediaite reported.
But she listed a few caveats.
“Honestly, if he could bring about the end to this terrible war… if he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor… could really stand up to Putin, something we haven’t seen, but maybe this is the opportunity… If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize,”the former Secretary of State said on Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov’s “Raging Moderates”podcast. “Because my goal here is to not allow capitulation to Putin.”
Watch:
Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to meet Friday in Alaska to talk about a peace deal.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not invited to this summit, but Trump is hopeful to include him in another meeting.
According to Politico, Clinton need not grab the nomination form just yet.
The outlet reported a deal between Russia and Ukraine remains “nowhere close.”
Trump has dubbed himself the “president of peace” as he angles to receiving a Nobel Peace Prize.
Three other U.S. presidents have received the honor. They are Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama, IJR previously reported.
