Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dressed for success in his meeting with President Donald Trump.
The wardrobe switch-up differed from Zelenskyy’s more relaxed attire, Fox News reported.
Zelenskyy was wearing all black. His attire included a button-down black shirt and jacket.
“First of all … President Zelenskyy, you look fabulous in that suit,” a reporter said to the Ukrainian president in the Oval Office.
“You look good,” the reporter said.
Trump added, “I said the same thing.”
Zelenskyy traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with Trump to discuss possible peace between Ukraine and Russia.
Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday in Alaska.
That meeting did not result in a peace agreement. Now, Trump is seeking a land swap deal as a way to end the war.
Monday’s meeting includes European leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Zelenskyy has been criticized for his relaxed attire that normally includes T-shirts and sweatshirts and not formal suits.
One reporter questioned Zelenskyy about his wardrobe when he was in Washington in February.
“Why don’t you wear a suit? You’re at the highest level in this country’s office, and you refuse to wear a suit,” the reporter asked. “Do you own a suit?”
Axios reported the White House asked Ukrainian officials if Zelenskyy would be wear a suit to the meeting.
A Ukrainian designer predicted Zelenskyy would be wearing a suit to the meeting.
“Tomorrow he most likely will not appear in a polo,” Ukrainian designer Elvira Gasanova said to Fox News Digital Sunday. “I think he will choose a black military suit or a military-style shirt with trousers — perhaps a jacket.”
“After the recent ‘no suit’ drama, he will likely approach this question differently,” she said.
