Stephen King Blames Guns For Deadly Minneapolis Shooting, Not Transgender Issue
Author Stephen King blamed guns for the deadly shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis.
He added the fact the shooter was transgender did not play a role.
King expressed his thoughts in a post on X where he wrote a reply to billionaire businessman Elon Musk, per the Daily Wire.
“Whether he was transgender is beside the point. The point is he had a gun,” King wrote.
Musk’s post, in turn, was a reply to one made by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.
“There is a clear pattern here,” Musk wrote.
In her post, Noem identified the shooter as “a 23 year-old man, claiming to be transgender.”
“We have confirmation that the shooter at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, MN was a 23 year-old man, claiming to be transgender, she wrote.
“This deranged monster targeted our most vulnerable: young children praying in their first morning Mass of the school year,” she continued. “This deeply sick murderer scrawled the words ‘For the Children’ and ‘Where is your God?’ and ‘Kill Donald Trump’ on a rifle magazine.”
Many, however, disagreed with King’s opinion.
“Been watching them all day making sure they don’t walk in a church full of kids,” one person wrote along with a photo of guns. “How long does it take Stephen?”
“He was mentally ill and had a gun[,] dumbass. Had he been diagnosed he wouldn’t have had a gun but d***heads like you celebrate it rather than acknowledge they need treatment,” another person wrote.
“Stephen, the gun didn’t walk into a Christian school on its own. A trans-identified man did,” another reply said. “That’s the point. You’ll name the tool but never the ideology, because acknowledging the pattern exposes the deviance you and your party defend.”
“Stop blaming inanimate objects for the wicked choices of people you refuse to hold accountable,” the person continued.
Robin Westman, 23, has been identified as the killer. Westman, born Robert Westman, discharged “dozens of rounds” into Annunciation Church. School students were attending Mass Wednesday morning.
Two students were killed — an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old. There were 17 others injured — 14 children and 3 adults. Westman then shot himself.
There are others who identify as transgender and committed mass shootings.
They include the STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting in 2019 and the Covenant School Shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023.
Westman wrote he was “tired of being trans” and regretted that he “brain-washed” himself.
His journal entries included references to assassinating President Donald Trump and hatred towards Jews.
Westman also wrote that killing “children of innocent civilians” would give him “the most joy.”
