Federal immigration authorities successfully arrested a convicted sexual predator who is going viral online over his short stature.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) New Orleans office on Monday announced the arrest of Cristian Soto-Galeano, a Guatemalan national convicted of indecent behavior with a juvenile and sentenced to two years in prison. The agency featured an image of Soto-Galeano in their social media post about the arrest, and appeared to poke fun at the foreign national’s small size.
“SEXUAL PREDATOR ARRESTED: ICE New Orleans arrested Cristian Soto-Galeano, a citizen of Guatemala,” the X post declared. “His criminal history includes a conviction for indecent behavior with a juvenile and was sentenced to 2 years in prison.”
“We stand ready to face any challenge, big or small,” the post continued.
The X post has garnered 3,000 retweets and roughly one million views at the time of publication. Several other X accounts have also replied with memes of the image, such as posts dressing Soto-Galeano up in a clown suit or featuring him alongside well-known liberal content creators who are considered short.
An ICE spokesperson was not able to immediately provide further details on Soto-Galeano’s immigration history, but did confirm that he is an illegal migrant.
Louisiana officials, who have repeatedly passed anti-sanctuary legislation since 2024, leaned into their pro-enforcement agenda with the launch of a new cooperation agreement with federal immigration officials. Republican Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem unveiled the opening of “Louisiana Lockup” in early September, a new facility within the Louisiana State Penitentiary that expands ICE detention space by more than 400 beds.
“Criminal illegal aliens beware: Louisiana Lockup is where your time in America ends,” Landry said in a public statement during the unveiling of the new facility, which is located in Saint Francisville. “This facility fulfills President Trump’s Make America Safe Again promise.”
