Left-wing protesters at a vigil for Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk sang a song that was engraved on a bullet in the rifle of Kirk’s alleged assassin in a video posted to social media Sunday evening.

The College Republicans chapter at New York University held a vigil for Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday during a “Prove Me Wrong” event at Utah Valley University sponsored by TPUSA, where he was debating attendees on various topics. The video, posted on the official X account of the NYU College Republicans, showed the left-wing demonstrators singing the song.

“Protesters sung the song written on the bullet casings which killed Charlie Kirk at the vigil mourning his death tonight at NYU,” the group posted. “They also threatened to kill NYU College Republican Club president Ryan Leonard. They’re not looking for peace.”

Republican Gov. Spencer Cox of Utah confirmed that “Bella Ciao” was engraved on one of the bullet casings when announcing the arrest of Tyler Robinson for Kirk’s assassination. The song became a popular anthem among left-wing partisans in Italy resisting the regime of Benito Mussolini.

Democrats have called Republicans “fascists” on multiple occasions. Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Ken Martin claimed in August that the U.S. faces “an insidious force” seeking to create “fascism” in the country.

Then-Vice President Kamala Harris called President Donald Trump a “fascist” during an Oct. 23 town hall on CNN as part of a pattern of escalating attacks in the closing weeks of the 2024 presidential campaign, which included devoting a major speech to attacking the former president as a threat to democracy.

Then-President Joe Biden said that Trump supporters were a “threat to democracy” during a September 2022 speech in Philadelphia that took place a week after he claimed Republicans embraced “semi-fascism” at a DNC fundraiser and attacked “MAGA Republicans” during a speech in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
