President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday morning for a meeting with military personnel, according to a statement from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“On Friday morning, President Trump will visit Walter Reed Medical Center for a planned meeting and remarks with the troops. While there, President Trump will stop by for his routine yearly check up. He will then return to the White House. President Trump is considering going to the Middle East shortly thereafter,” Leavitt said.
The visit to Walter Reed marks another high-visibility moment for Trump. The mention of a potential trip to the Middle East raises eyebrows and questions about what kind of diplomatic or strategic messaging could be in store.
If Trump follows through with a trip to the Middle East in the near future, it would signal a renewed emphasis on international leadership and America-first diplomacy at a time when global tensions remain high.
Trump’s potential trip overseas also comes after the president announced a breakthrough in the Middle East peace plan. On Wednesday, he announced Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a peace deal.
