“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin on Monday and Tuesday did not keep her promise of wearing a MAGA hat on-air if President Donald Trump successfully got all of the Israeli hostages in Gaza released.
During a Dec. 9, 2024, segment, Griffin vowed to wear the MAGA hat on the program and thank Trump for making that achievement. Hamas agreed to the first phase of Trump’s peace agreement by freeing all of the 20 living hostages that they held captive since Oct. 7, 2023.
“If he gets the Israeli hostages out, I promise, I will wear a MAGA hat for one day on this show and say ‘thank you for doing it,’” Griffin said.

Following the release of the hostages, Griffin did not wear a MAGA hat during either segment on Monday or Tuesday. She commended Trump on Monday for succeeding in getting the hostages released, saying that Trump and his administration deserve “tremendous credit” for the achievement.
My reflections on the peace deal between Israel & Hamas. The President & his team deserve tremendous credit for this historic diplomatic achievement, the return of the hostages, & end to bloodshed. Pray this peace holds.

Griffin previously worked as the press secretary for former Vice President Mike Pence and as a special assistant to Trump from October 2017 to September 2019. She then served as a press secretary for the Department of Defense. After leaving the administration in 2021, she joined “The View” and repeatedly warned that Trump was “wholly unfit” to ever serve as president.
Griffin called Trump “the most dangerous man” to ever serve as president in November 2024. While she still identifies as a Republican, she publicly announced that she voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris.
