MS NOW reporter Ken Dilanian on Wednesday suggested that anger toward Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were to blame for the shooting of two National Guardsman blocks from the White House.

Two Guardsmen from West Virginia were shot blocks away from the White House on Wednesday. Dilanian stated on “Katy Tur Reports” that Americans’ anger surrounding uniformed agents, particularly those in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), led to this shooting.

“I mean, there’s not much the National Guard can do, they can’t arrest people and so it’s sort of been it’s sort of become part of the firmament,” Dilanian said. “But of course, you know, there’s so much controversy happening in the United States right now with ICE, who are also wearing uniforms and  wearing masks. So, you don’t know people walking around with uniforms in an American city, there are some Americans that might object to that.”

Republican West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey initially stated that the two Guardsmen had died, though he walked that claim back as there have been conflicting reports. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed during a press conference that the guardsmen are still alive.

President Donald Trump confirmed on Truth Social that the Guardsmen were injured and in “critical condition.”

“The animal that shot the two National Guardsmen, with both being critically wounded, and now in two separate hospitals, is also severely wounded, but regardless, will pay a very steep price. God bless our Great National Guard, and all of our Military and Law Enforcement,” Trump wrote. “These are truly Great People. I, as President of the United States, and everyone associated with the Office of the Presidency, am with you!”

Trump deployed the National Guard to Washington, D.C., in August and invoked Section 40 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act to crack down on crime throughout the nation’s capital. Despite initially opposing the deployment, Democratic Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser issued an order in September to continue the deployment and required local law enforcement to cooperate with them.

Several Democrats espoused several baseless warnings about what the National Guard would supposedly do to innocent Americans. Democratic Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin said on ABC’s “This Week” that she was worried about the National Guard randomly shooting at Americans. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker suggested that the Guardsmen would be used to stop elections in 2026.
