Well, it didn’t take long. Within hours of the horrific, gut-wrenching massacre on Sydney’s Bondi Beach — where at least 15 people, including a child, a rabbi, and a Holocaust survivor, were allegedly gunned down during a Hanukkah celebration — the Australian government’s answer was as predictable as a kangaroo in the outback: more gun control.
That’s right. The same country that already boasts some of the strictest gun laws in the developed world immediately jumped to announce even stricter ones. Because obviously, when alleged terrorists manage to slip through intelligence cracks, the solution is to punish… farmers and gun owners. Makes total sense, right?
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese came out swinging with proposals to limit how many guns law-abiding citizens can own and to “review” licenses over time. Because clearly the real problem here is that a farmer in rural Queensland might own a few too many rifles, not that one of the alleged gunmen was previously investigated for possible ties to ISIS. Oh, and let’s not forget — this man legally owned six guns for a decade. So, where exactly was the system that’s supposed to flag someone who might not be fit to own them?
But the government, of course, wants you to look away from that pesky little detail. Or the fact that this wasn’t a random act of violence — it was allegedly a targeted antisemitic terror attack. And it happened not in some dark alley or remote part of the country, but in broad daylight at one of Australia’s most iconic, most crowded beaches. You don’t just stumble into that scenario. That’s planned. That’s deliberate. That’s ideological.

(@GuntherEagleman) So instead of taking a long, hard look at the rise in antisemitism — which Jewish leaders across Australia have been warning about for months — Albanese and his crew are more interested in rewriting firearm laws for people who had nothing to do with this nightmare. And they’re quick to add citizenship-based restrictions, as if that’s the silver bullet (no pun intended) to prevent future attacks. Never mind that one of the alleged attackers was a born-and-raised Australian citizen.
Meanwhile, let’s not gloss over the fact that antisemitic attacks have been ramping up across Australia since 2023. We’re talking arson, beatings, vandalism — and this isn’t just fringe stuff. Synagogues torched. Jews assaulted. Businesses defaced. And what did the Albanese administration do? Appoint a “special envoy.” Yeah. That’ll fix it.
Even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — who is no stranger to terror and has a pretty sharp radar for when the world is asleep at the wheel — called out Australia months ago for not taking the threat of antisemitism seriously. But hey, Albanese was too busy following the international woke parade of recognizing a Palestinian state. That move, Netanyahu said, just poured “fuel on the antisemitic fire.” And after what just happened on that beach, can you really argue with that?
You’ve got a situation where a Jewish holiday celebration — with kids, elderly survivors of the Holocaust, and families just trying to enjoy a peaceful evening — turns into a massacre. Yet instead of addressing how two alleged attackers with extremist connections got within range of innocent civilians, the Aussie government is more concerned with regulating how many guns a citizen can own and adding vague “criminal intelligence” factors to license eligibility.

(@VividProwess) So here’s a thought: Maybe, just maybe, the issue isn’t the number of weapons in the hands of people who follow the law. Maybe it’s that Australia, like so many Western nations, is so paralyzed by the fear of being politically incorrect that it won’t confront real ideological threats until it’s too late.
And now 15 people are dead.

But sure, let’s make life harder for hunters, farmers, and recreational shooters. Let’s distract the public with shiny new regulations while burying the uncomfortable truth that a growing antisemitic climate was allowed to fester. Because the one thing politicians hate more than being wrong… is being accountable.
Just don’t expect the world to keep buying the same tired answers. Not anymore.
