Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) took issue with President Donald Trump’s statement about the deaths of Rob Reiner, a Trump critic, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

The Reiners were murdered Sunday in their Brentwood, California, home. Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, has been “booked for murder” and is currently held on $4 million bail, according to Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell.

Trump blamed the murders on Rob Reiner having  “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Greene went on X to dispute and criticize Trump’s claim. She also reposted Trump’s statement.

“Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak,” Greene wrote.

“This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies,” she continued.

“Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder,” she concluded.

Trump posted Monday on Truth Social where he criticized Reiner for his history of activism for progressive causes and support for Democratic candidates.

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump wrote.

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before,” Trump continued. “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Greene is not the only one to take issue with Trump’s post, per Mediaite.

Aaron Rupar said it was “one of the most psychotic things Trump has ever posted.”

Kyle Cheney from Politico posted, “What’s particularly striking is that Trump and his allies helped drive a crusade to punish people who expressed similar sentiments in the hours after Charlie Kirk’s murder — a suggestion that someone’s politics means they deserved violence.”
