Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) think President Donal Trump could face another impeachment.
But one thing has to happen first — Democrats would have to regain control of the House in the 2026 midterms, per the Western Journal.
Pelosi sat down with with USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page for an interview on “The Excerpt” podcast.
“The person most responsible for impeaching President Trump when I was speaker was President Trump,” Pelosi said.
“He gave us no choice. He crossed the line in his telephone call with President Zelenskyy as one manifestation of his disrespect for the Constitution, his jeopardizing the sanctity of our own elections in our country, and the rest,” she continued.
“And then of course, January 6th. He can try to change the narrative all he wants, but we will be there to make sure the public knows the truth about January 6th. Was an insurrection incited by the President of the United States,” she said. “Then he goes and pardons people who are beating up cops, thinking he’s pro safety. Beating up cops and then now… Look at this, freeing a drug dealer who was president of Honduras, responsible for participating in 400 tons of drugs coming into the United States and saying, ‘We’re going to jam them up in the noses of the gringos.’ And the president pardons him. And then he’s bombing ships that says they have drugs coming into the country. There’s something wrong with this picture.”
Watch:
Trump’s first impeachment was due to a 2019 phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump was acquitted in 2020.
He was impeached again in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
Trump was again acquitted after receiving 57 of the needed 67 for conviction.
There are two other times in history when impeachment was a “serious, historic thing.”
The first was as when then-President Andrew Johnson was on trial for for getting in the way of Reconstructing the Democratic South after the Civil War.
Then, it 1974, then-President Richard Nixon resigned from office to avoid facing a trial.
