A tense immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis erupted into chaos after a woman allegedly used her SUV as a weapon, prompting an ICE agent to open fire in a moment captured on dramatic video now spreading rapidly online.

According to the New York Post, the footage, recorded from multiple angles and shared widely on social media, shows federal agents converging on a plum-colored Honda Pilot after it was used to block the path of an ICE vehicle during what officials described as a targeted operation.

Agents are seen ordering the driver to exit the SUV as it sits nose-to-nose with a government truck. One officer approaches the driver’s side door and reaches for the handle as the situation appears to escalate.

Seconds later, the driver abruptly shifts into reverse, backing up sharply before accelerating forward in the direction of another ICE agent standing in her path.

That agent narrowly dodges the oncoming SUV, circles around the vehicle, and fires three shots. The Honda Pilot then veers off course and crashes into a white sedan parked along the curb.

Immediately after the shots ring out, a woman can be heard screaming in disbelief and fury.

“No! No! What the f–k? What the f–k did you do? You’re f–king criminals!” she yells repeatedly in the aftermath.

The shooting quickly drew a large and emotional crowd. Hundreds of protesters flooded the area, which the City of Minneapolis identified as the intersection of East 34th Street and Portland Avenue.

Demonstrators shouted at law enforcement and packed the streets as officers attempted to secure the scene.

Should the actions of the ICE agent in this incident be viewed as justified?

The Department of Homeland Security defended the agent’s actions, framing the shooting as a necessary response to an imminent threat.

DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin said the incident unfolded as ICE officers were carrying out enforcement actions when demonstrators began interfering.

“One of the violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them — an act of domestic terrorism,” McLaughlin said in a statement posted to X.

She said the officer who fired acted to protect lives in a rapidly unfolding situation.

“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots,” McLaughlin wrote. “He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.”

Officials have not released the identity or condition of the woman involved. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing as tensions continue to simmer around immigration enforcement activity in the city.
