Trump Gaffe: ‘Peace is so Destructive for Everyone’

IN FLIGHT - JANUARY 22: U.S. President Donald Trump speaks to reporters on board Air Force One while flying in between Ireland and Washington as he returns from the World Economic Forum on January 22, 2026. Following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump announced a deal with European leaders on the semi-autonomous Danish territory of Greenland during the annual meeting of political and business leaders in Davos. President Donald Trump has referred to himself as the “president of peace.”

But Trump made a serious gaffe when he told reporters Thursday that “peace is so destructive for everyone.”

Trump uttered those words aboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. While there, he signed the charter for the Board of Peace, intended to oversee his administration’s plan for Gaza’s post-war reconstruction, per Mediaite.

Reporters asked Trump about the $1 billion fee nations must contribute to have a spot on the Board of Peace.

“Some of the countries have already put up a billion. Some of the countries have already put up much more than that,” Trump responded. “And that’s a lot of money, but it’s nothing compared to the value of peace.”

Then came the president’s faux pas which he quickly corrected.

“Peace is so destructive for everyone, even countries that aren’t involved,” he said. “I mean, it’s so destructive for everybody when you have wars.”

Even though he caught his mistake, others simply would not let it slide.

“Man who begged for peace prize: ‘Peace is so destructive,’” the account Patriot Takes wrote.
