Democratic strategist James Carville pretended to be a newscaster as he fantasized about election night in November during a Friday Politicon video.
The 2026 midterm elections will be held on Nov. 3. Carville talked to fictional correspondents as hypothetical election returns came in and imagined President Donald Trump would react to Republican losses in a disgusting manner during the video posted to Politicon’s YouTube channel.

“Good evening and welcome to election night, November, the year 2026. This is your host James Carville with the YouTube Politicon Network, and we’ll be covering elections tonight,” Carville said. “We’re going to start with the East Coast. The returns are starting to pour in … First, I want to go to Maine, our correspondent on the ground’s in Portland, Maine right now, Pauliana Cassandra.”
“Paulie, how you doing tonight?’ ‘Great.’ What are you hearing out of Maine, specifically from [Republican] Senator Susan Collins? ‘She’s running 16 points behind in the early returns.’ And have you heard anything about her mood? ‘Excuse me? Her staff is describing her as, quote, concerned, unquote. Yeah, she’s concerned,’” Carville continued, playing the parts of host and correspondent.
The Democratic strategist acted out a similar routine for Pennsylvania, fantasizing that Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro would be projected to win reelection by 18.5% on election night. He continued by fantasizing about Democratic wins in North Carolina and Florida.
Moreover, he ridiculed Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham while fantasizing that he would lose his reelection bid against Democrat Annie Andrews.
“Oh my god. You mean Dr. Annie Andrews is going to defeat the sycophant, the pliable, the idiotic, the gross Lindsey Graham? Does that that look like the case? Has anybody been able to get a quote from Senator Graham concerning tonight’s events?” Carville said, pretending to talk to a correspondent. “Come in, B. What are you hearing? Excuse me, you say he’s at a steam bathhouse down the street, and he’s weeping pitiously. Well, I guess that’s kind of it.”
Carville then turned his fantasy to Trump’s White House, acting out a correspondent informing him of a development.
“I don’t know if this can be verified, so understand that — but he’s heard internal reports from his sources in the White House that Trump is in the Lincoln bedroom throwing feces at the wall,” the Democratic strategist said. “I know he throws ketchup at the wall, but this is the first time that we’ve had reports of him throwing actual shit at the wall. But that seems the kind of mood he’s in.”
“We’re going to continue our election night coverage as we go forward, but great call out to all of our great correspondents on this historic election night in November of the year 2026,” he concluded. “And we’ll be back with more returns as the night progresses. Thank you very much.”
Carville also unleashed a barrage of curse words and insults in what he said was a “personal message” to Trump during a Monday Politicon video. He argued in the video that Trump’s inner circle supposedly despised him and was betraying him, predicting the midterms would be a rebuke of the president.
He further disclosed that he fantasized about Trump being miserable and said it made him feel at ease during a July 2024 episode of his “Politics War Room” podcast.
