Weeks after a troubling run-in with law enforcement, Britney Spears has taken a step toward recovery.
According to Page Six, a representative confirmed that the pop star has voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility following her recent DUI arrest in Ventura, California.
The decision comes as she prepares to face the legal fallout from the incident, with a court date scheduled for May 4.
Spears’ arrest last month marked a turning point, according to sources close to the singer.
Authorities reportedly pulled her over after observing her swerving between lanes. During the stop, officers allegedly found an unknown substance in her vehicle, and she was believed to have been under the influence of both alcohol and drugs at the time.
She was taken into custody on March 4 and released the following morning, according to records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
In the weeks since, those close to Spears say the experience has weighed heavily on her.
At the time of the arrest, a source said the singer was “incredibly emotional,” adding that she “felt ashamed and embarrassed” and is “very sorry” for what happened.
“It’s been a very hard couple of months,” the source said.
Despite the turmoil, Spears has not been alone. She has reportedly been supported by her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, as she navigates the aftermath of the arrest.
Officials say the case remains under review.
“The DUI case against Britney Spears has been submitted to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office and is under review by our prosecutors,” a spokesperson said.
Spears addressed fans publicly following the incident, sharing a message on social media alongside videos with her son.
“Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing!” she wrote.
In recent days, the singer has also shared glimpses of time spent with loved ones, including a yacht outing with her sons and a holiday gathering with friends.
Now, with treatment underway, Spears appears to be focusing on her health as the legal process continues.
