Newly released police footage is shedding light on the moment a once-rising music figure was taken into custody — and his reaction is drawing renewed attention following his conviction.
According to Page Six, Ross Davidson, known by his stage name Ross Wild and associated with Spandau Ballet, was seen smiling and shaking his head as officers arrested him in 2021 on multiple sexual offense charges.
In the bodycam video, an officer can be heard reading out allegations tied to incidents in 2019, including rape, voyeurism, and recording a victim without consent.
Davidson, then 38, appears to smirk as the charges are outlined.
Years later, a court would find him guilty.
On Thursday, Davidson was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted of sexual offenses involving six women between August 2013 and December 2019.
Prosecutors said some of the encounters occurred while victims were asleep.
The case unfolded over two trials.
During proceedings in July 2024, Davidson was convicted of two counts of sexual assault, as well as rape and voyeurism involving multiple victims.
He returned to court again in January 2025, where he was found guilty of an additional rape that occurred in London in March 2015, along with a sexual assault in Thailand in December 2019, according to reports.
Throughout the trial, Davidson denied the accusations.
“I have never raped, sexually assaulted or coerced any woman in my life,” he told the court.
The offenses, prosecutors said, took place during a period when his music career was gaining momentum. Davidson had joined Spandau Ballet in 2018, stepping in for original frontman Tony Hadley.
In delivering the sentence, Judge John Dodd KC condemned the pattern of behavior described in court.
“For a period of six years between 2013 to 2019, and at a time when your stage and musical career was fast developing, and you were seen by many as a charismatic, you were also behaving to women in a wholly disgraceful manner,” the judge said, according to The Independent.
The judge added that Davidson displayed an “adventurous attitude to matters sexually” and treated women “without respect.”
Victims also addressed the court, providing detailed accounts of their experiences.
According to reports, five of the six women were present during the hearing. As they spoke, Davidson reportedly read a book.
“By refusing to admit his guilt I feel that he has retraumatised me – I find his cowardice utterly deplorable,” one victim shared.
The case has drawn attention not only for the severity of the crimes but also for the contrast between Davidson’s public persona and the behavior described in court.
