The playful banter between former President Barack Obama and Stephen Colbert included an apparent jab at President Donald Trump.
“The bar has changed,” Obama said when discussing Colbert running for president on Tuesday’s “The Late Show.”
The interview was filmed at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago where Colbert asked the former president about what he should do once he goes off the air later this month.
“I’m looking for a new gig soon. And a lot of people tell me I should run for president,” Colbert said.
“Well, you certainly have the look,” Obama replied. “You have the hair.”

“For the record, I think it’s a stupid idea. How dumb do you think it is for people to say that I should run for president?” Colbert said.
“The bar has changed,” Obama joked.
“That is true,” Colbert said. “At times, subterranean. So, I don’t have to limbo so low!”
“Let me put it this way, I think that you could perform significantly better than some folks that we’ve seen,” Obama said.
“Is that an endorsement?” Colbert asked.
“It was not,” Obama responded.
Colbert’s final episode is expected to air on May 21.
