Veteran television actress Jennifer Harmon, whose decades-long career included memorable turns on daytime television and Broadway, has died at 82.

Harmon passed away last Friday, according to a memorial website created by her family.

The site includes personal photos and tributes celebrating her life and career. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Born Dec. 3, 1943, in Pasadena, California, Harmon spent much of her childhood in New Orleans before later attending both the University of Mississippi and the University of Michigan, per Page Six.

She eventually moved to New York City to pursue acting, making her Broadway debut in 1965 in a revival of “You Can’t Take It With You.”

That appearance launched a stage career that placed her in numerous acclaimed productions over the years, including “The Cherry Orchard,” “The Wild Duck,” “The School for Scandal,” “The Sisters Rosensweig,” “The Deep Blue Sea,” “The Dinner Party,” “The Glass Menagerie,” “Seascape” and “Other Desert Cities.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon also built a respected reputation as an understudy for some of Broadway’s most celebrated actresses, including Stockard Channing, Judi Dench, Jessica Lange, Marian Seldes and Blythe Danner.

While her stage work earned admiration in theater circles, Harmon became widely known for her roles in daytime television.

Her first soap opera role came in 1974 when she played Christine, a divorced alcoholic, in NBC’s “How to Survive a Marriage,” which aired until 1975.

The following year, she joined ABC’s “One Life to Live” as Cathy Craig Lord.

Harmon was the fifth actress to take on the role, following Catherine Burns, Amy Levitt, Jane Alice Brandon and Dorrie Kavanaugh.

Her performance earned critical praise and led to a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1978.

She ultimately lost that year to Laurie Heineman of “Another World,” but her work on the series remained one of the defining performances of her television career.

Harmon left “One Life to Live” in 1978 but returned in 1991 in a different role, portraying an attorney representing Viki Lord, played by Erika Slezak, in a multi-episode storyline.

Her soap opera résumé also included appearances as Jean Weatherill on “Guiding Light” and Lucretia Jones on “Loving.”

Outside daytime television, Harmon made guest appearances across a wide range of popular primetime series.

Her credits included “Barnaby Jones,” “Dallas,” “St. Elsewhere,” “The Cosby Mysteries,” “Law & Order,” “Oz,” “Rescue Me” and “The Good Wife.”

Across Broadway and television, Harmon built a career that spanned decades and left a lasting impression on audiences and colleagues alike.
