Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wears more than one hat as Health and Human Services secretary.
He is also a snake wrangler.
Kennedy posted a video Tuesday morning of him grabbing hold of a pair of mating snakes with his bare hands.
The incident was captured on camera as Kennedy’s wife, actor Cheryl Hines, looked on. They were at a beachfront home owned by Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
“Cheryl cheerleads the removal of a pair of Black Racers from Dr Oz’s patio,” Kennedy captioned the video on X.
Hines is heard repeatedly exclaiming “Bobby, why?” as Kennedy attempted to snatch the two black snakes in a corner of Oz’s patio.
Watch:
“They were having sex. So what were they?” a voice off camera asks.
After the capture, Kennedy held up the snakes for the camera and grinned as they twisted and turned. One of the snakes then appeared to nip Kennedy’s finger.
“Oh my God,” Hines said.
“You’re nuts.”
“Are they biting?” Kennedy is asked.
“Yeah,” he replied.
“Honey, honey, let them go! Oh my God. Bobby, please!” Hines is heard saying.
Kennedy, 72, is familiar with encountering animals.
In 2012, Kennedy’s daughter Kick said in a magazine interview that her father had cut off the head of a whale that had washed up on the shore in Hyannis Port, Mass.
Kennedy said in 2024 that the National Marine Fisheries Service, a part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, had launched an investigation into the decades-old incident.
In 2024, The New Yorker published a 2014 photo of Kennedy with a bloody bear carcass, following his claim that he dumped the dead animal in New York City’s Central Park.
And earlier this month, Kennedy posted a photo of him holding a live bird, calling it a “rescue today at Dulles Airport.”
