Actor Treat Williams has died at the age of 71 following a motorcycle accident.

On Monday evening, the news of Williams’ death was confirmed exclusively to People by his agent of 15 years, Barry McPherson.

The Associated Press reported that shortly before 5 p.m., a Honda SUV was turning left into a parking lot when it collided with Williams’ motorcycle in the town of Dorset, according to a statement from the Vermont State Police.

“Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead,” according to the statement and reported by the AP.

McPherson expressed his devastation over the “Blue Bloods” actor’s tragic passing.

“He was the nicest guy. He was so talented,” McPherson added.

Furthermore, he called Williams an “actor’s actor” and said he was loved by filmmakers.

“He’s been the heart of the Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year,” he added.

Williams’ family also released a statement about Williams’ death, per ABC News.

They shared:

“It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Treat Williams has passed away tonight in Dorset, Vermont after a fatal motorcycle accident, As you can imagine, we are shocked and greatly bereaved at this time. Treat was full of love for his family, for his life and for his craft. Treat was dearly and deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him.”

Jacob Gribble, the fire chief for Dorset, told People the driver of the SUV was making a turn and did not see Williams’ motorcycle. He also disclosed that Williams was the only person injured in the crash.
