As of Wednesday, no charges have been filed, and no arrest has been made. Authorities say the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is still investigating the incident. It is not clear whether speed, distraction, or other factors played a role in the crash. The driver’s identity has not been released.
Davis had been working steadily in television in recent years. In addition to her appearance on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in 2023, she also had roles in shows like Girls5eva, Blindspot, New Amsterdam, and The Normal Heart.
Her manager, Jamie Harris, confirmed the news to The New York Times, sharing that Davis moved to New York City in her 20s to pursue a career in stand-up comedy before later transitioning into acting. Like many performers in the early stages of their careers, Davis supported herself with other jobs, including working at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
“She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at JFK and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends (which was also huge),” Harris told The New York Times.

Davis was remembered by neighbors as warm, friendly, and deeply caring. Edward Reynoso, who lived near her, spoke to the Daily News about their final interaction, which he said felt unexpectedly meaningful. Just hours before her death, Davis reportedly told Reynoso, “I love you, I appreciate you.”
“It was so weird to me because I felt like she was saying goodbye,” he said. “Now that this happened, it all seems so odd to me.”
The unexpected accident has drawn attention to pedestrian safety in New York, where dense traffic and crowded streets often increase the risk of vehicle-related incidents. While there is no indication yet of wrongdoing, the case remains open, and investigators continue to collect surveillance footage and witness statements to determine the exact circumstances.
Davis had been a working actress for decades, and although she was not a household name, her colleagues described her as a dedicated professional who loved her craft and worked hard to earn every role she got. Her sudden death has shocked friends, co-workers, and fans alike.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made public, and it is unclear whether her family has released a statement at this time. The entertainment industry is expected to honor her contributions in the days ahead.
