After campaigning for Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) over the past several months, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said this week that she’s voting for former Vice President Joe Biden in November now that Sanders has left the race.
Ocasio-Cortez joined rapper Fat Joe in his live stream on Wednesday night and the rapper asked, “There’s three things you can do, you can vote for Trump, you can vote for Biden or you can not vote at all. Who are you gonna vote for?”
The congresswoman responded, “In November, I’m going to be voting for Joe Biden. That’s what I’m going to be doing.”
Asked if this is the first time she’s said that she’s voting for Biden, she said, “I mean, I’ve been saying this whole time that we’ve got to support the Democratic nominee … if this isn’t the first time, this might be, it could be the second, I don’t know, this is the time I’m saying it declaratively like this, I think.”

While the already-iconic New York congresswoman may have never said that she is voting specifically for Biden, she has been adamant that she will support the Democratic nominee for president and has urged her legions of fans to do the same.
In an early March appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ocasio-Cortez said, “I’ve said throughout this entire process that, what is so important is that we ultimately unite behind who that Democratic nominee is.”
She continued, “I think it’s a two-way street, I’ve been concerned by some folks some folks that say if Bernie is the nominee they won’t support him and the other way around. Right now, November, this is more important than all of us and we really need to make sure that we defeat Donald Trump at the polls.”
While Ocasio-Cortez is a former Biden critic and among Bernie’s most loyal allies, Politico reported in mid-April that her staff is having conversations with Biden’s team about priorities of progressives like her.
