On Monday the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia canceled the oral arguments scheduled for Dec. 5 concerning the potential disqualification of Fani Willis.

In a court filing obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation, it did not provide specific reasons for the sudden cancellation.

Willis filed a motion to dismiss an appeal on June 12 that aimed to disqualify her from the racketeering case involving President-elect Donald Trump and his co-defendants, citing “insufficient evidence” as the reason, according to Atlanta First News. In response, Trump’s legal team branded her motion as merely a desperate “Hail Mary” attempt, lacking any legal or factual foundation.

“Simply stated, the State’s motion is a calculated, disingenuous attempt to mislead this Court for the obvious purpose of preventing interlocutory appellate review of the District Attorney’s misconduct,” Trump’s motion said. “Both the trial court, in granting the certificate of immediate review, and this Court, in granting the interlocutory application, have already determined these issues are critical.”

The Georgia Court of Appeals ordered a temporary hold on the racketeering case against Trump in June. The appellate court directed Judge Scott McAfee to freeze all current proceedings while it deliberates on the defendants’ request to remove Willis from the case.

Previously, McAfee had decided to let Willis continue in her role, despite acknowledging a “significant appearance of impropriety” due to her romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom the defendants claim Willis had financially benefited from appointing.
