New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) is accusing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of standing in the way of the fight against COVID-19.
On Sunday, de Blasio was asked by CBSâ Margaret Brennan if he believes Cuomo will resign as several women have accused him of sexual misconduct.
âI think heâll try to hold out,â he said. âI think heâs used to getting things his way, and itâs been an almost imperial governorship. But, I gotta tell you, the folks in this state and the political leadership donât believe him anymore. He doesnât have any credibility.â
De Blasio continued, âSo, I think an impeachment proceeding will begin. And I think he will be impeached. And perhaps right before that, heâll decide to resign, thatâs probably the most likely outcome right now.â
Finally, he claimed, âHe should resign right now because heâs holding up our effort to fight Covid. Heâs literally in the way of us saving lives.â

De Blasio previously called on Cuomo to resign after multiple women accused the governor of sexual harassment.
âThe specific allegation that the governor called an employee of his, someone who he had power over, called them to a private place and then sexually assaulted her, itâs absolutely unacceptable,â he told reporters on Thursday.
He added, âIt is disgusting to me, and he can no longer serve as governor.â
While dozens of state lawmakers and over 16 members of New Yorkâs Congressional delegation have called for Cuomo to resign, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said, âI think we should see the results of the , but he may decide, hopefully, this result will be soon. And what Iâm saying is the governor should look inside his heart, he loves New York, to see if he can govern effectively. And that could be one of the considerations that he has.â
