The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) has announced the annual correspondents’ dinner will be hosted by ā€œSaturday Night Liveā€ star Kenan Thompson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the event is scheduled to take place on April 25. It has been reported that Hasan Minhaj will also be a featured entertainer. The ā€œPatriot Act With Hasan Minhajā€ star previously hosted the event in 2017 and the association has agreed that the two are perfectly suited for the job.

In a statement released earlier today, White House Correspondents’ Association President Jonathan Karl made the announcement and shared his opinion of both Thompson and Minhaj.

ā€œKenan and Hasan are two of the most engaged and engaging entertainers in America. I’m thrilled they’ll help us celebrate the role of a free press in our democracy,ā€ Karl said in the statement.

He added, ā€œWe’re looking forward to a lively evening honoring the most important political journalism of the past year.ā€

According to the New York Post, the hosts aren’t the only exciting aspect of the big night. It has also been reported that two new awards will also be presented: the Katharine Graham Award for Courage and Accountability and the Award for Excellence in Presidential News Coverage by Visual Journalists.

Shortly after the announcement, Minhaj took to Twitter to confirm.

Karl also retweeted a post from ā€œThe Viewā€ welcoming comedy back to the White House Correspondents Dinner. In the quick clip, Whoopi Goldberg breathed an exasperated sigh relief at the thought of light-hearted banter adding a little ā€œspiceā€ to the relatively formal event.

The White House has yet to confirm whether or not President Donald Trump will attend.
