“The View” co-host Joy Behar was quick to clarify a comment about murder and pro-life activists was made in jest.
Actress and activist Jane Fonda appeared on the talk show on Friday and spoke about the overturning of the landmark abortion decision Roe v. Wade.
“We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have,” Fonda said, adding, “We know what that feels like. We know what that’s done for our lives. We’re not going back. I don’t care what the laws are.”
Behar asked, “Besides marching and protesting, what else do you suggest?”
“Well, I’ve thought of murder,” Fonda responded.
Actress Lily Tomlin, who was also a guest on “The View,” spoke over Fonda as she said, “It’s not going to happen overnight …”
“What did you say?” Tomlin asked.
Fonda responded with a straight face, “Murder.”

Several of the panelists could be heard laughing.
However, Tomlin said, “Don’t say that!”
Behar quickly interjected as she said, “She’s kidding!”
“Wait a second. She’s just kidding!” she added.
Fonda remained silent and kept a straight face while the hosts laughed.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tweeted in response, “Unapologetic Pro-Life Politician here.”

I routinely get death threats because of the nasty women on The View and the things they say about me.
But calling for us to be assassinated makes The View, the hosts, the producers, the network, the advertisers, and everyone involved… https://t.co/Vsa7tik8zg

But calling for us to be assassinated makes The View, the hosts, the producers, the network, the advertisers, and everyone involved responsible for death threats, attacks, and potential murders of Pro-Life politicians and activists. I am reporting this.”
