President Joe Biden is falsely claiming he is the only president of the century, or decade, who has not had soldiers die on his watch.
During the first presidential debate of 2024, Biden claimed, “The truth is, I’m the only president this century — this decade that doesn’t have troops dying anywhere in the world, like [former President Donald Trump] did.”

While Biden he is the only president who has not had U.S. soldiers die on his watch, his is wrong.
In 2021, 13 service members were killed during the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
It was not clear where the claim came from.
