President Joe Biden is not publicly weighing in on Vice President Kamala Harris’ search for a running mate.
As he departed the White House on Friday, a reporter asked, “Have you spoken to Vice President Harris about her running mate?”
“Yes,” Biden responded.
The president was then asked, “You’ve been a vice president before, what qualities should the vice president be looking for when she picks hers?”
“I’ll let her work that out,” Biden responded.

The comment comes as Harris’ team has reportedly come close to finishing its vetting process.
According to NBC News, her team has met with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.”
Harris said earlier this week she had not finalized her decision.
However, NBC News notes she is expected to make the announcement next week.
