President Joe Biden’s advocacy for women’s sports probably is not being received as he thought it would be.

In a post on X, Biden wrote, “As a nation, we need to support women’s sports by showing up in person and watching on TV – with more sponsorships and programming. Not just during championships. But all year round.”

“Let’s grow women’s sports and continue inspiring the nation,” he added.

As a nation, we need to support women’s sports by showing up in person and watching on TV – with more sponsorships and programming.

Not just during championships. But all year round.

Let's grow women’s sports and continue inspiring the nation.

The message was roundly mocked by those who suggested he should take action to prevent transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports:

A good way to grow women’s sports would be to not let men compete in them.

If Biden wanted to support women's sports, his administration wouldn't be penalizing people who don't want men allowed to play in them. https://t.co/pVS6fh8gu1

Can we start with keeping biological men out of women's sports as a way to support women, or no? https://t.co/joW4xXYM6o

Maybe now that Title IX has been gutted I’ll be more inclined to watch men play in women’s sports https://t.co/tuqBYL29rk

Big talk from the guy trying to force female athletes to compete against men. https://t.co/l3Q6HJMZyG
