Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is picking up the endorsement of Cindy McCain, the wife of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.)
“Maybe I shouldn’t say it, but I’m about to go on one of these Zooms with John McCain’s wife,” Biden said during a virtual fundraiser on Tuesday.
He added that she decided to endorse Biden because “of what [Trump] talks about with my son and John’s who are heroes, who served their country, you know he said they’re losers, they’re suckers.”

“Maybe I shouldn’t say it but I'm about to go on one of these Zooms with John McCain's wife, who is first time ever is endorsing me because of…(Trump’s comments on soldiers that) they’re losers, they’re suckers”
That quote stems from a story in The Atlantic that said President Donald Trump called American soldiers who died in war “suckers” and “losers.”
The report was based on several anonymous sources, and Trump forcefully denied it, “I would be willing to swear on anything that I never said that about our fallen heroes. There is nobody that respects them more.”
“So, I just think it’s a horrible, horrible thing… no animal, nobody, what animal would say such a thing,” he added.
Cindy McCain narrated a video for the Democratic National Convention in August that focused on her husband’s friendship with Biden. However, she did not offer an endorsement at the time.
Cindy McCain and her daughter, Meghan McCain, have been publicly critical of Trump.
Trump repeatedly lashed out at John McCain, especially after he sunk a 2017 effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA.)
And in 2015, Trump took a shot at McCain’s war service and claimed he was not a war hero because he was a prisoner of war and “I like people who weren’t captured.”
