President Joe Biden is recalling the first time he encountered a female truck driver.
On Monday, the president shared a story about a time he rode in a tractor trailer. He said, “When I was a young senator, there was a guy who ran steel…So I decided to ride out with him to see what it was like in the strike.”
He continued, “His handle was ‘Big 10.’ And remember, all the truck stops were being blockaded at the time. He called and said, ‘Big 10 wanting to come in,’ I forget exactly how he said it.”
“And the only woman truck driver I ever knew I met that day. She said, ‘This is Big Mama. No room.’ Swear to God. True story. He said, ‘I’ve got a United States senator driving my truck.’ And she said, ‘I’ve got the damn president in mine. So what?'” he added.
Finally, Biden said, “I’ll never forget that. Anyways, that was the first woman trucker I ever met.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) tweeted in response, “Is Big Mama related to Corn Pop?”
Is Big Mama related to Corn Pop?

Did you meet her under sniper fire in Bosnia?
Oh wait, that last one was a different liar's lie. https://t.co/LMjhA6oAC5
Boebert’s tweet refers to a story that Biden recalled in 2017 about a time when he was a 19-year-old lifeguard working at a swimming pool in Delaware and an encounter he had with a gang leader known as Corn Pop.
“And Corn Pop was a bad dude. And he ran a bunch of bad boys. And back in those days — to show how things have changed — one of the things you had to use, if you used pomade in your hair, you had to wear a baby cap,” Biden began.
He continued, “And so [Corn Pop] was up on the board and wouldn’t listen to me. I said, ‘Hey, Esther, you! Off the board, or I’ll come up and drag you off.’ Well, he came off, and he said, ‘I’ll meet you outside.'”
He went on:
“My car – there was a gate on here. I parked my car outside the gate. And he said, ‘I’ll be waiting for you. He was waiting for me with three guys with straight razors. Not a joke.”
According to the then-former vice president, a mechanic told him to take a chain and walk up to Corn Pop and say, “You may cut me man, but I’m gonna wrap this chain around your head.'”

“So I walked out with the chain. And I walked up to my car. And in those days, you remember the straight razors, you had to bang ’em on the curb…I said, ‘First of all,’ I said, ‘When I tell you to get off the board, you get off the board, and I’ll kick you out again, but I shouldn’t have called you Esther Williams, I apologize for that. I apologize,” Biden said.
CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale later tweeted that there was a real person known as Corn Pop who died in 2016.
During the same event on Monday, Biden repeated a claim that he used to drive tractor trailers, as IJR reported.
