Public speakers sometimes pause while giving a speech and no one thinks twice about it — unless the speaker is running for president.
That’s the issue at hand after former President Donald Trump gave a speech at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in Dallas, Texas, Saturday.
When Trump stopped for more than 30 seconds, Biden’s campaign seized the opportunity to speculate whether this was a sign Trump is not mentally fit to be president, USA Today reported.
Trump was touting his support of the Second Amendment and said President Joe Biden was “coming for your guns.”
Supporters of the presumptive GOP nominee for president said he paused for dramatic effect. Biden supporters said it was a sign the 77-year-old politician was not fit for office. Biden is 81.
The Biden-Harris HQ account posted on X, formerly Twitter, that the speech was “bizarre” and “slur-filled.”
The Biden-Harris HQ account also alleged the music in the background during Trump’s speech was QAnon music
Trump waved off the criticism as a “fake story” and he usually pauses in his speeches.
“The reason they came up with this Disinformation is that Biden freezes all the time, can’t put two sentences together, and can rarely find his way off the stage without help,” Trump wrote. “Donald Trump doesn’t freeze!”
During his speech, Trump said he’ll undo any gun regulations Biden imposed.
“In my second term, we will roll back every Biden attack on the Second Amendment,” Trump said. “Starting the minute that crooked Joe shuffles his way out of the White House.”
