Former Vice President Joe Biden is saying he is the Democratic presidential candidate President Donald Trump doesn’t want to face.
On Thursday, Biden appeared on “The Today Show” where he discussed the presidential race with Savannah Guthrie.
She recalled all that occurred in the days leading up to Super Tuesday. As previously reported on IJR, Trump called out the Democrats accusing them of “staging a coup against” Sanders. Then, he suggested the coronavirus was a hoax that the Democrats were “politicizing” to bring him down.
When asked if he thought Trump was rooting for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Biden quickly offered a response.
“Look, I think the one thing the president doesn’t want to do from the very beginning is face me because I will beat him. Period,” he said.
Biden even noted Trump’s impeachment trial saying, he “even risked his presidency because he doesn’t want to face me.”
Biden also noted Trump’s behavior arguing that no other president has been so focused on another party’s primary.
“Have you ever, ever seen a sitting president get so involved in a Democratic primary and focus so much attention on not wanting a single person, me, to become the nominee?” he said.

Guthrie also asked about Biden about Sanders’ response to his Super Tuesday wins.
She also pointed to Sanders’ suggestion that Biden’s campaign is supported by the “corporate establishment.”
However, Biden disagrees. “It’s ridiculous. Bernie, you got beaten by overwhelming support I have in the African American community,” he said.
During an MSNBC interview, Sanders also claimed Biden was able to win among African American voters because of his ties to former President Barack Obama.

Biden’s latest interview follows a string of reports about Super Tuesday. While the results have been game-changing, White House counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway has refuted Biden’s claims about Trump being concerned about the general election.
“The president has said clearly … that it doesn’t matter who he runs against because they have to run against the Trump economy, the Trump record on national security and terrorism, the Trump record on nearly 200 federal judges confirmed to the courts,” Conway told Fox News late Wednesday.
