Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said on Tuesday’s “The Adam Carolla Show” it’s easy to see the sole motivation driving former Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi: power.
Pelosi, who announced in November 2025 that she won’t seek reelection to the seat she’s held since 1987, amassed a substantial financial fortune during her 40 years in Congress. O’Reilly said on the show that the ex-Speaker’s finances have always been closely tied to her pursuit of power, and she’s used a combination of “information and fear” to exert her influence.

“Pelosi is not hard to figure out. Power is everything to her. And the power links into the money. She’s worth $300 million,” O’Reilly said. “That’s almost impossible for a public servant. And I know she had an affluent upbringing in Maryland. But $300 million? So, her power base is information and fear.”
While Pelosi asserted in February that she did not join Congress for financial reasons, her net worth skyrocketed while in office to an estimated $265 million, according to Quiver Quantitative.
“And when she was Speaker of the House, it was: ‘You better do what I tell you to do and vote this way or you’re not going to get any money for your reelection campaign,’” O’Reilly said. “And it was very effective — except for [Democratic New York Rep.] Ocasio-Cortez and a few others. And Nancy hated them.”
“And then the information flow, I think, and it’s just an opinion, led to her discussing with her investor husband where to put the money they had. And boom. So, it’s fairly venal,” he added. “It’s fairly obvious that’s what she lives for. And the city that she lives in falling apart. What does she care? ‘I got $300 million. I live in Pacific Heights. I got private security on my block’ … So you don’t want to hear the riff-raffs. You don’t want to see any of this stuff. But it doesn’t affect her. And so that’s what motivates.”
Pelosi’s stock portfolio also beat the S&P 500 by nearly 200% in 2024 after outperforming it by 164% in 2023.
President Donald Trump singled out Pelosi during his February State of the Union address while pushing Congress to pass the “Stop Insider Trading Act.”
“Let’s also ensure that members of Congress cannot corruptly profit from using insider information,” Trump said. “They stood up for that. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. Did Nancy Pelosi stand up — if she’s here? Doubt it.”
