Just how does one celebrate a 79th birthday?
If you are President Donald Trump, it is with a military parade.
According to a report on The Hill, the Trump administration is planning a dual celebration for June 14 in Washington, D.C. — Trump’s birthday and the Army’s 250th anniversary.
A senior administration official confirmed the plans to NewsNation.
Washington City Paper was the first to report the plans for the parade. The parade will likely travel four miles from the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, to the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
“There are plans for a parade that will involve the Army,” an Army official told The Hill. However, nothing has been solidified.
The official said the Army planned to celebrate its 250th anniversary with a “robust capability increase in what you would see in previous years.”
Local D.C. have been involved with the planning as both local officials and engineers doing “route reconnaissance.”
“The Army is very excited to celebrate its 250th anniversary with the entire county. Our intention is for Americans to be proud of their Army and also proud of their nation. It’s too early to say yet whether or not we’re having a parade but we’re working with the White House as well as several government agencies to make the celebration a national level event,” Army spokesperson Col. Dave Butler said.
In 2018, Trump’s plans for a military parade like that held on Bastille Day in France were upended by the hefty $92 million price tag.
