Podcaster Brandon Tatum said so-called “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” (DEI) programs do not help minorities in a Thursday appearance on “The Charlie Kirk Show.”

President Donald Trump signed an executive order ending DEI programs in the federal government within hours of taking office on Jan. 20, while Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced the Department of War would scrap quotas for promotions in a Tuesday speech. Tatum, a former police officer, told “The Charlie Kirk Show” guest hosts Andrew Kolvet and Blake Neff that DEI programs harmed those they claimed to help.

“We don’t need these programs to try to lift up black people in an artificial way, because what happens is you lift up black people that are not prepared, and it makes us all look bad,” Tatum said.

WATCH:

A report published in “Econ Journal Watch” found that a series of studies by McKinsey and Company, which showed a positive impact on financial performance in firms that embraced diversity, could not be replicated.

Major corporations in the U.S., including McDonald’s, Walmart and Coors, have backed away from DEI initiatives. Bud Light saw its sales decline precipitously after it partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in 2023, including providing a customized beer can.

The Mountain States Legal Foundation alleged in an April 2024 lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that the agency turned away over 1,000 applicants from a training initiative due to their race, according to SimpleFlying.com.

Do No Harm filed an EEOC complaint against the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine (ARM) over an internship only open to black applicants in July 2024.

The America First Legal Institute sued Disney in February 2024 over “inclusion” standards that included quotas for allegedly “underrepresented” groups.
