White House border czar Tom Homan will soon be on his way to Minnesota to help with the chaos currently underway.
President Donald Trump made the announcement Monday, NewsNation reported.
“He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me,” the president said.
Homan will also be part of the ongoing fraud investigations in the state, press secretary Karoline Leavitt noted.
For the past month, there have been protests in the state over immigration enforcement that has resulted in the deaths of two American citizens by federal agents.
Both activists and lawmakers have asked if it was the right thing to do to inundate the state with federal forces.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has also described those killed as “domestic terrorists.”
Noem said Trump’s decision was “good news for peace, safety and accountability in Minneapolis.”
“I have worked closely with Tom over the last year and he has been a major asset to our team— his experience and insight will help us in our wide-scale fraud investigations, which have robbed Americans, and will help us to remove even more public safety threats and violent criminal illegal aliens off the of streets of Minneapolis,” she wrote on X.
A White House official said Noem will continue to lead the Department of Homeland Security; Homan will “drop everything and focus solely on Minnesota.”
