President Donald Trump has reportedly granted a pardon to former Major League Baseball slugger Darryl Strawberry.
According to Fox News, during his career with the New York Mets and New York Yankees, Strawberry faced multiple legal troubles linked to drug and alcohol issues, which led to three separate MLB suspensions.
A White House official told The Associated Press Friday that the pardon recognizes Strawberry’s efforts in his post-baseball life. “He has found faith in Christianity and remained sober for a decade,” the official said.
The official also noted that Strawberry has become active in ministry and established a recovery center, which continues to operate today.
Strawberry enjoyed a decorated career, winning the World Series with the Mets in 1986 and with the Yankees in 1996, 1998, and 1999.
This is a developing story.
