Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) is taking aim at House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for traveling to New York City to attend former President Donald Trump’s trial.
In a post on X, Cheney wrote, “Have to admit I’m surprised that [Johnson] wants to be in the ‘I cheated on my wife with a porn star’ club.”
“I guess he’s not that concerned with teaching morality to our young people after all,” she added.

Users on X were not happy to see Cheney lecturing Johnson:
He just risked his job and political career to pass aid to Ukraine and literally saved a country. You weren’t there to fight for Ukraine because you blew up your political career and now you heckle him from the sidelines. https://t.co/GMhg8KVctj

Yeah, I'm not going to take morality lectures from someone who turned Libya into a slave state and helped kill half a million people in Syria. https://t.co/g8KyfOsPRW

Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, the top House Republican said, “The crime that they are accusing President Trump of is falsification of business records. But I think everybody knows, he is not the bookkeeper for his company.”
“President Trump is innocent of these charges. And again, anyone with common sense can understand what is happening here,” he added.
Johnson derided the “ridiculous and unprecedented gag order” for the president, which he claims prevents Trump from defending himself from “political smears from his harshest critics at the most important time.”
“[Trump] is soon to be officially the nominee of one of the major parties in our country running for president. And they have him tied up here in this ridiculous prosecution that is not about justice. It is all about politics, and everybody can see that,” he added.
