Actor Chevy Chase fell off the stage while being featured for a “Christmas Vacation” talk at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, New York.
According to People Magazine, the event took place Wednesday night, but Chase, 80, didn’t skip a beat after tripping over his feet.
His representative told the outlet, “He took a fall at the part of the stage that was not lit well but thanks to all his falls on SNL, it was like riding a bike again. Just a little boo-boo. All good.”
In video footage shared by TMZ, Chase could be seen emerging onstage in a wheelchair, but soon got up onto his feet. He then walked to the front edge of the stage where he fell forward and off the stage, People reported.
His wife, Jayni Chase, helped him to his seat where he joked, “Wait wait, my watch is talking to me. It says, ‘I see you’ve taken a great fall! … Taken a hard fall!’”
His wife then helped him with his watch and said, “Otherwise they might send an ambulance.”
The moderator joined the comedic spirit and stated, “We’re gonna be talking about that one for a while!”
The event is just the start of Chase’s “Christmas Vacation” appearances.
He is scheduled to appear at Christmas Con in New Jersey over the weekend. This event will reunite him with co-stars Beverly D’Angelo, Randy Quaid, and Julliette Lewis.
During his time on SNL, Chase was the “fall guy” who took so many tumbles that fans have created reels of these stunt-filled skits.
“Christmas Vacation” is one of his most seasonable performances. It was released in 1989 and became a modern holiday classic, per IMDB.
The film played on Chase’s physical humor abilities and involved many Christmas blunders, including a few comedic falls. It was written by Hollywood legend John Hughes and remains a fan favorite to date.
