Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared to close the door on the idea of being former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s running mate.
When asked during Clinton Global Initiative event in Puerto Rico on Tuesday if she would run as Bloomberg’s vice president, she said she would just be “waiting and watching” through the primary process. She added that she would support whoever wins the Democratic presidential nomination.
“Oh no! I’m just waiting and watching as this plays out. I will support whoever the nominee is because I think for all the reasons you can imagine, and here in Puerto Rico there are many, we need to have a new president for our country.”

Clinton’s comments come just days after a report suggested that Bloomberg was considering picking her to be his running mate.
However, Bloomberg’s campaign downplayed that report, “We are focused on the primary and the debate, not VP speculation.”
Additionally, a former Clinton aide suggested that Clinton would not run as Bloomberg’s vice president and ripped into the billionaire’s record.
Clinton has previously said she would not rule out running as vice president. During an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, Clinton said it’s not likely that she would be picked to be someone’s running mate.
However, she added, “I never say never because I believe in serving my country, but it’s never going to happen.”
Clinton also previously said she feels “the urge” to run for president, but added that she would support the candidates who a running for president now.
