A conservative commentator is suggesting former President Donald Trump’s arrest is Christlike.
The account Right Wing Watch shared a video of conservative commentator Anna Perez discussing a colleague’s claim that he would take a bullet for Trump.
“When he said that at first I was a little taken aback. I thought, ‘Alright Ryan that’s a little much.’ But then I thought about it for a split second and then I realized, no it’s not,” Perez said.
She went on:
“You know why? Because President Trump would take a bullet for me. President Trump is taking a bullet for me. President Trump is prepared to take a bullet for all of us. What he’s doing is actually Christlike.”
Perez shared she used to poke fun at people who said Trump is Christlike. But added, “He’s literally going to prison for us.”

Uh, no. Just no.
This is just heretical nonsense.
And there are a couple of issues with her comparison. For one, the trial has not even begun. And Trump has not been found guilty. So at this point, he is not going to prison for anyone.
For another, unless millions and millions of Americans are accused of cheating on their spouse at a golf tournament with a porn star, then paying hush money to the porn star during their presidential bid, and allegedly falsifying business records to cover it up, Trump is not “going to prison for us.”
Additionally, the substitutionary atonement in Christianity is not how our justice system works.
And here’s a pro tip: During the holiest week of Christianity, don’t equate a thrice-married billionaire who has a loose relationship with the truth and bragged about grabbing women by the p**** to Jesus. It’s not good to do so any other time, but especially so this week.
You can argue the prosecution of Trump is politically motivated to punish him for representing conservative voters.
But don’t try to elevate him to messiah status.
