Eduardo Del Pozo and Regan Mast knew they had found love, but when they also found the perfect puppy, they rescheduled their wedding to adopt him.
According to People Magazine, the couple had planned their Oct. 26 nuptials to take place at 11 a.m. While gearing up for the big day, they decided to go to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter in Virginia to find a fur baby to add to their family once they wed.
They found their dog, a 4-month-old German shepherd named Daisy, but she wasn’t available for adoption just yet. She was set to be ready at a new branch location’s opening ceremony in Lorton that upcoming Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. — the exact time their wedding was to happen.
Determined to give Daisy a home, the couple called around checking to ksee if their officiant, family, and friends would be able to come if they moved the wedding up a few hours and were able to move the ceremony to 9 a.m.
After the ceremony, they went to the new shelter’s grand opening to adopt Daisy in their wedding clothes.
Del Pozo said, “I was in my suit, and she was still in her dress.”
The newly renamed Mrs. Del Pozo added, “It was love at first sight. She’s so sweet.”
Rebecca Cavedon, the shelter’s communications manager, noted the bride and groom arrived just as they were cutting the ribbon for the grand opening and they were first in line to adopt a pet.
“To see that they got married literally that morning and then added to their family — and the joy that brought them, just made us all smile and made our day — it made a really special day for us even better,” Cavedon added.
Del Pozo stated, “It symbolized us starting our own family.”
He then concluded, “My wife and I are beyond excited.”
