Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is suggesting a novel method for selecting the next President of the United States.
As the 2024 election increasingly looks like it will be a re-match between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Cruz went on Fox News to discuss the race.
The senator knocked former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley for raising doubts about the 45th president’s mental state.
He went on to suggest both men should take a cognitive test:
“What I suggested in the podcast today, I said alright, fine, I suggest this for the general election. Let’s do a cognitive test, Joe Biden versus Donald Trump, the winner is president.”

Cruz added, “I’m very happy to take those odds because Trump will whip Biden’s ass.”
On Monday, Trump argued he is “a lot sharper than” Haley when asked about her questioning his mental fitness.
“I would sit down right now and take an aptitude test and it would be my result against her result and she’s not gonna win. She’s not gonna even come to close to winning,” he claimed.
Cruz’s comments come as RealClearPolitics’ average of polls shows a close race. However, Trump holds a 3.8 point lead over Biden.
