With President Donald Trump’s colossal victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris, there’s never been such a sharp contrast between what is and what could have been.
Trump’s unprecedented “open book” brand of governing that’s been on display over the past six months shows what it’s like to go from the least transparent administration in history to the most transparent in the blink of an eye. And, uncovering the truth about who’s responsible for the Russian collusion hoax is a key step to help restore trust in government.
Look no further than Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s recent jaw-dropping disclosures. Newly declassified records indicate the entire phony Russia, Russia, Russia narrative was cooked up by the highest levels of the Obama Administration – including former President Barack Obama himself.
A newly released copy of the smoking gun Presidential Daily Brief for Obama dated December 8, 2016, stating unequivocally that “We assess that Russian and criminal actors did not impact recent US election results by conducting malicious cyber activities against election infrastructure” should go down in infamy. These critically important words were hidden from the American people for nearly a decade – and the truth is finally coming out – thanks to the courageous work of DNI Gabbard.
These extraordinary findings indicate that a plot to manipulate intelligence and falsify information in order to paint Donald Trump as a Russian asset who colluded with Vladimir Putin to win the White House was put in motion during the 2016 presidential transition period. As it turns out, it was all a lie – perhaps the biggest lie in American political history. Instead of carrying out a peaceful transition of power as they were publicly promising, Obama, former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, and others decided to “stick it” to the duly elected president in the worst way possible.
Some are calling it a coup; some are labeling it treason, but after 10 years of this Democrat-run charade it’s time for a thorough criminal investigation that covers the whole gamut of what transpired from start to finish. The American people want and deserve an investigation run by professionals who are interested in finding the truth, not just another Washington “window dressing” probe. The Justice Department’s formation of a strike force dedicated to getting to the bottom of it is welcome news.
I can still remember running into then-FBI Director James Comey in Trump Tower when I was Deputy Executive Director of the Trump presidential transition team in early 2017 moments after he sprung the fake “Russian Dossier” on President-elect Trump. In that meeting, Comey was articulating in no uncertain terms that political outsiders were not welcome in the swamp and that Trump had better watch his back. Instead of coming clean about the origins of the dossier and its complete lack of veracity, the highest levels of the Obama Administration were relying on untruthful political opposition research to stand up a fictitious scandal to destroy the incoming president.
It took years for the American people to find out that the dossier was funded and orchestrated by the Hillary Clinton campaign and that the entire Trump-Russia tall tale was concocted just to thwart Trump’s progress. Obama, Comey, Brennan, and Clapper could have disclosed this fact from the get-go to help the incoming administration expose a debilitating smear campaign, which would have been standard practice for any other president not named Trump. Instead, they have chosen to collude with their allies in the biased mainstream media to double down on the big treasonous lie to this day.
President Trump – and the country as a whole – was forced to endure years of lies, investigations, and smears simply because Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton and the continuation of Obama’s policies fair and square. Not only should an exhaustive investigation take place, but the Trump Administration should also continue releasing any and all relevant records to the public.
Records from Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation – including unredacted interview transcripts – should be released without delay. Additionally, unredacted interview transcripts from former Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s investigation should also be made available for public inspection. My organization Citizens United filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit for the IG’s transcripts five years ago but has only received a miniscule amount of highly redacted documentation to date.
The American people support a dual track process of transparency and investigations – and thank President Trump and his team for having the guts not to just “move on.” The deep state loves obstruction and delay tactics with the belief that as the years pile up, the issue will be forgotten. That’s why it’s so important to keep fighting for the truth. Barack Obama should be forced to testify under oath, along with Brennan, Clapper, Comey, and everyone else who had a hand in the apparent conspiracy to undercut the will of the American people in 2016. There must be accountability.
