Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) is explaining why she chose to hit Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) with a six word insult.
During an appearance on ABC’s “The View” Thursday, Crockett called Greene a “bully” and said “no one ever responds” to her antics.
“And so the idea was, she would just get away with it again,” she added of a viral hearing earlier this month in which personal insults were thrown around. “For me, she basically just mimics Trump. And because she mimics Trump, she is one of their top fundraisers… She is rewarded for her antics and for the destruction of our institution.”
Crockett added, “The thing is, it’s not about partisanship at all. It’s about respect, and it’s about making sure that you’re doing the work of the people.”

During the hearing earlier this month, Crockett asked Greene if she knew what the hearing was about.
“I don’t think you know what you’re here for,” the Georgia congresswoman responded. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up…”
The hearing then exploded with members talking over each other as ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) chimed in, “That’s beneath either of you.”
After several minutes of chaos, Crockett asked the committee’s chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) “Just to better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”
Comer asked, “A what now?… I have no idea what you just said.”
During her appearance on “The View,” Crockett defended against criticism of her decision to trade mark her insult aimed at Greene and sell merchandise with the phrase on it.
“When I set out to do the trademark… it was because there was a demand,” she continued. “It’s so that I can help save our democracy.”
